I had the pleasure of meeting Shannon and Chris and touring their Pilate’s studio recently. They are a charming married couple who you can tell is very excited about their new passion and studio. I love when people take a risk, leave the corporate world–in their case moving across the country–and follow a dream. They pursued a simplified life where they can be connected to the community, each other and the work they do.

You can tell in talking with them that they truly care about getting to know their clients and staying connected with them. They purposely keep the Pilates classes small (6 students) so the experience is a quality one for each individual. They live close to the studio and enjoy walking or riding their bikes to work. They mentioned they loved running into their clients whether in the grocery store or out and about in the neighborhood.

Let Shannon and Chris inspire you with their journey, their passion, their workouts and their story. I encourage you to stop by, meet them and take a class. You will not be disappointed!

1. Why did you choose Capitol Hill for your business?

My husband and I chose to buy Pilates Vita of Denver because it is in the type of urban neighborhood we always dreamed about calling home. The Alamo Placita / Country Club / Cap Hill area has all the conveniences one might need, plus a cozy neighborhood feel. It’s our forever home.

2. What about Cap Hill jives with your business culture?

Having bounced around with our careers, we craved community. The walkability of the studio is a beautiful thing. Many of our clients come to the studio on foot or by bicycle. Our clients are our friends and we love bumping into them while out in the neighborhood. It truly feels like family.

3. Why are you passionate about your business? What’s the story?

We can’t think of anything better than helping people live happy, healthy lives. Chris is a United States Air Force Academy graduate who served for over 6 years, but don’t let his military background intimidate you — he is a gentle motivator. I am a fitness enthusiast and former Air Force civil servant. With business backgrounds, we always wanted to own a small business and after years of serving our country, we are proud to now serve our local community. We offer private classes, semi-private classes and classes using Pilates equipment, indoor cycling bikes and TRX suspension bands. Clients can also work out on your own using our high-end gym equipment. There are even therapists on-site for massage and Thai bodywork . Also, we offer unique locally-designed yoga pants and leggings for sale.

4. What inspired the look of your business/the design?

We were immediately drawn to the openness of the ground-level space. The natural light, exposed brick, wood floors and high ceilings in a corner-lot make for the ultimate ambiance. We also have a funky-cool space downstairs where we have the TRX bands and cycling bikes.

Your first 30-minute private session or class is free! Please join us for fun, fitness and camaraderie.
