Denver |Fashion Week

Tell us about you and your business! (Ex. How long you’ve been in business, What brought you to your craft, How people can find your business)

I started my business almost a decade ago after going to college. I had started a fashion group on the CU Boulder campus and am self taught. I had originally been studying to become a doctor, had a melt down and a really good friend suggested that we do a fashion group on campus. I then begged my professors in the theater program to teach me everything that they knew and the rest was history. You can find my stuff online at www.rachaelmariehurst.com as well as it will be re-opening my CO space in Glendale early next year.

Do you have any events or projects coming up you’d like people to know about? Fashion Week?

Denver Fashion Week is happening this coming week and I will be showcasing my collection on November 20 during the local designer segment. You can find tickets at https://303magazine.com/dfw-fall-21-tickets/

I’m also doing the Fashion West Winter Spectacular December 20 and will be sharing that information soon.

What neighborhood do you live in? What neighborhood is your business in?

I live out near the DIA airport in Montebello in and my business is in Glendale near Cherry Creek.

Why did you choose to call your neighborhood home?

My husband’s family has lived in this neighborhood for a long time. It’s a cool area because there’s a lot of up-and-coming things happening but it has a little bit of that older neighborhood charm and we love it.

What are your favorite local places?

We love our favorite Indian restaurant it’s called Coriander we go there quite often that’s actually where we got engaged and we also love our pho place, PHO DIA. it’s so delicious! Oh yeah and Garibaldi‘s we go there every Tuesday for tacos!! we’re big foodies 🙂

What do you love about Denver?

I love your sense of community. I love that we can all come together for a common projects and goals. And I love that people play by their own rules. There is no place like Colorado and that is refreshing!

Are you from CO?

I am not from Colorado, I am actually from Kansas but I have been living here for over 20 years.

How would you describe the personality or “vibe” of Denver? Of Your Neighborhood?

I think Colorado is a reverse-mullet, it is the type of city that is a party in the front and is very business like in the back and so in that sense we have a fun laid-back atmosphere but we know how to get work done.  There are so many beautiful things to take and be a part of in Colorado so it’s easy to have more of a chill vibe but just still be responsible and get things done.  My neighborhood has great diversity in a lot of different ages and ethnicities and so it’s a really fun energetic. I think I’ve always enjoyed my neighborhood and kind of the restaurants that we have and so excited to see more non-chain restaurants come into my neighborhood because the cultural aspects of having Indian food Vietnamese food Mexican food African food it is it is really refreshing.
