Why did you choose Capitol Hill for your business?
I’ve lived in or very near Capitol Hill for the vast majority of the 9+ years I’ve been in Denver and just love the area. It’s got a little bit of everything and is a very walkable neighborhood, which is something I was looking for in a location for my shop.
What about this neighborhood jives with your business culture?
It just made sense. Cap Hill has a high number of the target demo for craft beer (25-40 year old males) and no shop that really had a great selection that fit the needs of the neighborhood. It seemed like a natural fit.
Why are you passionate about your business? What’s the story?
It’s all about discovery for me. The beer world is constantly putting out new products, so much so that now it’s a challenge to keep up and to find shelf space for everything. The craft distilling industry in Colorado is picking up and is probably 10-15 years behind beer but growing steadily. Same with the winery side of things.
What inspired the look of your business/ the design?
I wanted it to look nothing like a “regular” liquor store, the typical kind with fluorescent lighting and bad tile. The use of wood for the flooring and reclaimed wood for the shelving really give a warm feeling to the space, and that was my overall aesthetic goal, to create a space that felt more natural.
