Meet Michael King

I met Michael at the Denver Gay Pride event. He lives in LoDo around Sakura Square and has lived here for nine and a half years. Michael, 74 years old, waited until he was 70 before coming out, but found that his coming out to friends and family was something of a non-event since everyone (including his kids) told him they already knew.

Michael is at active member of the Prime Timers, a group of approximately 21 gay men who do activities together.  He also belongs to the Nooners, which meets Wednesdays at Charlies. Michael also participated in the Gray Stocking Review, a drag performance to raise money for the Matthew Shepard charity.

Michael enjoys traveling and road trips across the country–sometimes for up to 3 months–in his  Chevy Suburban which is outfitted with all the comforts of home. He recently went to the Prime Timers annual event at Raton Pass in New Mexico where he enjoyed great meals, a trip to the museum and great company.

One of Michael’s hobbies is making pickle forks. You have to see one of these fun forks that reveal the sparkling humor and upbeat attitude of the man who made it.
