What neighborhood do you live in?

Wash Park.

Why did you choose Wash Park?

I live here because my daughter, who just moved to Colorado, has friends in the neighborhood. I wanted to make the transition comfortable for her by keeping her friends close by.

What are your favorite local spots?

I just opened Monkey Barrel Bar on Platte Street in late October. MBB is a comfortable complete with tvs and video games at each booth, NFL Sunday Ticket, 20 local beers on tap, happy hour from open until 6 pm daily, and live music. When you’re here, you will hear 90’s and 2000’s punk and alternative music, the stuff I grew up on. We will probably be expanding in the future, adding a seating area outside for use during the warmer months.

I thought this area was ready for a bar and am looking forward to the possibilities. I also like My Other Bar, Rockabillies in Arvada (they have delicious burgers and live music), Gary Lee’s on Broadway, and the Giggling Grizzly.

P.S. We love your vibe. What inspires your style?

Monkey Barrel’s style is about nostalgia for my generation with the Nintendo, Mario Cart, etc. It’s also about comfort. Like your living room.
