Who knew an abandoned rubber plant could look so beautiful? The old site of Gates Rubber was a Denver landmark for over one hundred years. It was purchased in 1911 for $3,500. Growing up I remember driving past that strip on I-25 and Gates was always in site. Whether you find it hideous, or the old industrial look appeals to you, there is no arguing this photo brings out the best in it.

As with all things, as time passes change happens. No longer will this be what you see when you pass this area. The property has converted into a transit-oriented development combining residential and commercial uses next to the Interstate 25 and Broadway light rail station.

In change there comes a new beauty but let not the allure in the original character be lost.
